Pager Warranty & Service Information

The Commissioners of the County of Berks have made good on their promise to ensure that all field users realize at least one full year of warranty coverage on their high band alert pagers purchased through the county program. As of today, Motorola has completed the processing of a one year extension of the pager warranties. In actuality, this gives MORE than a year of coverage. This additional year is provided on ALL pagers, regardless of whether they were purchased with a service contract by the end user organization. Please follow timeline below:

November 1, 2008 - Actual one year factory warranty expired.

July, 2009 - Paging system was deployed and operational

November 30, 2009 - Factory warranty was extended to this date in order to accommodate the delayed deployment of the system.

November 30, 2010 - NEW expiration date of factory warranty based on county's purchase of a one year extension.

If your organization bought a two, or four year service package at the time of purchase, simply add that time onto the November 30, 2010 date to determine when your warranty period expires.

Remember that the warranty relationship is between YOU AND MOTOROLA. You may send your pagers directly to Motorola in Elgin, IL for repairs, or you may take them to a Motorola authorized shop. Be aware that if you take them to a Motorola shop, THEY WILL NOT FIX THEM THERE. They will send them to Elgin, and you may be charged a shipping/handling fee (This varies shop by shop. I have been told by some folks that there are shops out there doing this for free for their customers. Please ask your dealer so that you understand their terms). Please see below for the directions on how to send pagers directly to Motorola.

These units are tracked by serial number at Motorola. This is how they will know if they are/are not under warranty. Please be sure that when you send a unit out, you record the serial number, and when you get it back, you verify it is the same serial number. Even if they replace the whole unit, it is my understanding that it should come back with the "old" serial number on it.

I am not aware of anyone being asked to provide a "proof of purchase," even though the warranty terms require it. If this becomes an issue for anyone, please contact me immediately and we will work through our corporate contacts at Motorola to resolve this.

Below you will find the Motorola warranty terms and conditions, and also a form that has to be completed and sent in with the pager. Any questions about the form should be directed to Motorola support when you make the call described below.
